Structural Analysis Engineer 2 Boeing Operations Center

Performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements. Works under general s position is within the Boeing Operations Center in support of structural repair work statement for urgent (Airplane On Ground) customer requests typically requiring response within 24-hours. The Boeing Operations Center is staffed on a 24x7x365 basis utilizing alternate work schedules that are typically based on 12 hour shifts. All Operations Center employees may be required to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on their shift alignment. Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design. Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements. Works under general direction.

Technical

• Accident & Fleet Support
General knowledge of flight vehicle dynamics, design requirements, flight simulation, kinematics, flight operations and procedures, in-service problem resolution, repairs effects on continued airworthiness, assessment of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives. Asserts self initiative in conducting analyses and demonstrates expanded technical and problem solving capabilities.

• Aircraft Structure
General knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes (e.g. non destructive testing, corrosion prevention)

• Analysis/Design Optimization
General ability to evaluate complex vehicles and systems from a multitude of perspectives. Includes the ability to apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools. Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration.

• Engineering Analysis
General knowledge of engineering analysis (e.g. mechanical, electrical, avionics, design, circuit, systems, stress, structural, durability).

• Structural Repair
General knowledge of structural repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques). Knowledge of structural repair, overhaul, nondestructive inspection, corrosion control, and composites.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Are you willing to work alternate work schedules on a 24x7x365 basis, typically on 12 hour shifts (i.e. days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on shift alignment)?

Do you have at least 3 years experience in Large Aircraft Structures?

Do you meet the criteria described in the ""Typical Education / Experience"" section of this requisition?

Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information
Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Structural Engineering positions require a minimum of a BS Degree, preferred in the following disciplines: MECHANICAL, CIVIL, AEROSPACE/AERONAUTICAL/ASTRONAUTICAL ENGINEERING. ABET accreditation preferred. This position is within the Boeing Operations Center in support of structural repair work statement for urgent (Airplane On Ground) customer requests typically requiring response within 24-hours. The Boeing Operations Center is staffed on a 24x7x365 basis utilizing alternate work schedules that are typically based on 12 hour shifts. All Operations Center employees may be required to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on their shift alignment. Candidate will have commodity experience in one or more of the following areas: Aircraft Fuselage/ Empennage/ Wing/ Composite Structure/ Metallic Structure/ Systems Analysis/ Floors/ Doors/ Landing Gear/ Structural Certification.
