Propulsion Engineer 2\3

2 - Supports definition of requirements for propulsion engine and strut systems, auxiliary power systems and engine fire protection systems.
Supports definitions, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the
propulsion systems and the vehicle. Assists in the development of specifications and architectural and configuration
concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Assists in the design of
propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria. Assists in the use of
various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance. Assists in
defining and performing certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and end item components
(i.e. Strut systems installations, Engine systems installations, Aux Power Unit, fire protection systems). Assists in supporting fielded
systems to assure continued reliability and airworthiness. Works alongside more experienced Propulsion designers to support development of concepts for future propulsion
systems to meet anticipated requirements. Works under general supervision of Lead Engineer or Manager.

and the vehicle. Primary responsibility for developing specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle
systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Works along side Propulsion Architects to configure or design propulsion sub-systems and
components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria. Uses various testing, analysis, modeling and
simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance. Defines and performs certification tests for
propulsion sub-systems and components. Primary responsibility for support of fielded systems to assure continued reliability. Works along side Propulsion Architects to configure or design
concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements. Works under general supervisory direction. Is comfortable working complex design issues independantly.

Basic - General knowledge of propulsion system design principles, processes, and tools for aerospace vehicles and their components, including company and industry standards and practices.
Preferred - Complete knowledge of propulsion system design principles, processes, and tools for aerospace vehicles and their components, including company and industry standards and practices.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Do you meet the criteria described in the 'Typical Education / Experience section of this requisition?

Do you have at least 2 years of experience in mechanical design?

Have you worked as a member of an engineering or technical team on a mechanical engineering design project?

Typical Education/Experience
Level 2 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information
Prefer Mechanical or Aerospace/aeronautical engineering degree. Aircraft Propulsion Design Experience or related mechanical design experience is desired. Previous experience working on mechanical design components or installations at the Boeing Company is desired. Knowledged of Engineering design processes or methods is desired.
