Product Development/Sourcing Lead
Toysmith - a distributor of novelty toys -- celebrates over 30 years of successful operation. We have a great opportunity to join our team in the Product Development team as a Product Development/Sourcing Lead.
We are seeking an exceptional analytical, self-motivated, strategic and energetic individual to plan, organize and control the full cycle of toy brands and products from concept to market. This role is responsible for developing and executing branding strategies that appeal to the consumer while ensuring product line profitability, coordinating with the creative team on packaging.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following abilities to effectively: 1) Develop & execute new products from ideation to product launch while adhering to established timelines, 2) Determine priorities and marketing strategies to address changing consumer needs, 3) Be responsible for working with the marketing team in establishing the direction of product brands/categories that includes carry forward product, new product and packaging, 4) Present new product ideas to the product selection committee, 5) Provide financial and marketing rationale for new product selection, 6) Maintain target margin requirements for brands/categories, 7) Ensure new products meet all applicable safety regulations, 8) Be responsible for overall product quality for assigned brands/categories, 9) Communicate daily and negotiate costs with vendors, 10) Provide creative direction on and approval for product packaging, 11) Work closely with the creative department to ensure optimal merchandising of brands/products for Bi-annual catalogs, 12) Maintain detailed knowledge of toy products in competitive and emerging categories, 13) Conduct research to gain understanding of market trends, and 14) Perform other duties as required.
