Pre-Sales Engineer IIIThis Inside Based technical resource is responsible for providing pre-sales engineering and consultative design support on all CenturyLink products and services. Required is the ability to compile and translate complex business and technical requirements into customized solutions that are comprehensive and address the customers current and future networking environment. Understand the customers financial landscape in order to develop solutions that balance elements technical functionality against budget constraints. Pre-sales activities lead qualification, system and network design, pricing, proposal development, customer presentations and technical consulting. This position also will engage in mentoring activities Maintain strong integrity and business ethics.
Primary job responsibility is support design and engineering effort on complex inter-networked systems including LAN/WAN, Security, Wireless, Storage, Data Center. Knowledge of multiple vendors of LAN/WAN CPE including Avaya, Juniper, Adtran, Cisco, and ShoreTel is desirable. Practical experience designing and implementing traditional (i.e. Private Line, ATM, Frame, Circuit Switched, etc.) and enhanced (i.e. MPLS, Metro Ethernet, Wave-Based, Wireless, etc.).
Maintain in-depth knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications, to include complex routing techniques on LAN/WAN networks, IP Telephony, Security and network diversity applications.
Leads development of strategic and tactical plans with their respective sales teams or business partners providing technical input into developing account plans and assists the sales team in qualifying and closing specific customer opportunities. Provides network and applications impact analysis for customers and prospects. Leads internal cross-functional teams to obtain required approvals and complete designs and technical aspects of proposals for prospects and customers. Basic Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field and/or 5+ years of equivalent experience in sales engineering, engineering, and/or sales
Consultative selling and customer questioning techniques in order to identify new opportunities, up sell within existing accounts and maintain the role of trusted advisor to both the customer and sales team.
Strong communication (oral and written), analytical, presentation and customer relationship skills
Experienced in designing and implementing MPLS technology in a private in public network
In-depth understanding of traditional telecommunications services such as, LD, IP, VPN, ATM, Frame Relay, Private Line Giga-Bit Ethernet, Wave/DWDM, SONET Transport, PRI and Local CO-based Trunking Service
Fluency with Microsoft tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio) and industry standard network design tools (Cisco Design, NetformX Design Expert, etc.)
Strong project management skills to include, setting customer expectations, driving committed time lines, track deliverable when necessary and assume the role as liaison for the customer and cross-functional team (i.e. Operation, Engineering, Product Management, etc.)
Ability to work autonomously on multiple projects and associated deliverables. Time management skills are a critical requirement.
Solution selling which is defined as - Analyzing business processes to define key organizational and systems integration requirement, identify the best technical and cost based solutions, designing a scope, compiling cost, presenting the solution and understanding operational impacts.
