Description

Georgia-Pacific is currently hiring for a Plant Superintendent for our Olympia, WA facility.
The Plant Superintendent will report directly to the Plant Manager and have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations in a corrugated manufacturing facility. Responsibilities will include: safety performance results, production, compliance, cost controls, housekeeping, customer focus, quality and waste.
Directing up to 6 salaried and 100 hourly employees that operate converting machines and a 98 corrugator
Leading all plant employees to improve their capability and personal performance
Leading the drive for improvement in all operational areas such as compliance, reliability, costs, quality and housekeeping
Driving a culture change which empowers employees to understand and accept their accountabilities
Managing and helping to develop first-line supervisors including annual performance reviews
Working to accelerate employee training, understanding, and verification processes for the various plant systems, i.e. CTS, IQS, Center-Lining Practices and Procedures, KIWI Scheduling, PCS Feedback, and BVP
Enhancing operational effectiveness by measuring production efficiencies, analyzing and solving machine downtime causes, eliminating waste, maintaining budgetary raw material usages, performing root cause analysis, production scheduling, establishing standard operating procedures, and coordinating the shipping function with all other plant supervisors and managers
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Bachelors Degree is preferred with a preference for a technical or business discipline
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in the corrugated packaging industry required
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in the corrugated packaging industry required
Ability to work possible weekends, holidays and overtime when needed
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:
Proven leadership and interpersonal ability, communication skills (verbal and written), planning, and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office and KIWI Plan
Time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
Intricate knowledge of converting equipment and the corrugator
Proven abilities to work in a union environment
