Job Description: URS is one of the largest, global, fully integrated engineering, construction and technical services firms with capabilities to support the full project life cycle. We offer a full range of program management; planning, design and engineering; science and technical services; contracting and construction management; operations and maintenance; and decommissioning and closure. Business lines include private sector (mining, oil and gas, power, pipeline, commercial-industrial, manufacturing and chemical-pharmaceutical); infrastructure (surface transportation, rail and mass transit, aviation, ports and harbors, bulk handling and water resources, treatment and distribution); and federal programs. With more than 40,000 employees in a network of offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Europe, our broad-based expertise is a valued resource for federal, state and local government agencies, as well as Fortune 500 and other private industry clients worldwide. URS is a publicly held company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the stock symbol URS.

URS is currently embarking on a transformational growth of mining services in the Pacific NW where the mining industry is experiencing a high level of exploration and development. A key component of this growth objective is a significant expansion of the current mining practice in the area which will be achieved by interaction with the firm's other mining professionals. Potential locations include any URS operation in the Pacific NW.

This is an opportunity to join our dynamic and growing Northwest Business Unit and be responsible for growing our mining business in the Pacific NW. The position will help define and lead mining growth strategies, and align the operations of multiple offices under a common plan. A key objective of our Pacific NW initiative is to establish a mining presence in these states that is similar to our presence in the Southwest and Mountain States. Key elements of this objective are to achieve transformational growth in our current mining market position with a goal to achieve a top-3 mining position in the Pacific NW by 2015.

Our Pacific NW growth plan is a top corporate initiative with mining being a key element. Consequently, the selected candidate will enjoy the full support of corporate and regional resources through a committed team environment. This position will report to the Mining Market Segment leader and will develop close working relationships with our Corporate Global Mining Leader, and other Business Line Directors, Professional Staff and Marketing Personnel. It will be important to leverage these relationships to expand new business opportunities, sell our full range of services, and mobilize company resources to effect the desired growth. In addition, the successful candidate will enjoy being hands-on and involved with projects as a Principal-in-Charge, Senior Engineer, or Technical Reviewer.

Travel will be required to mine and mineral properties, some of which will be remote and some could be overseas. URS enforces a strict international travel policy by only allowing employees to travel to "safe" countries for established clients. Travel could be occasionally required on short notice because of the consulting nature of providing services to mining clients and responding rapidly to needs that may arise as result of natural disasters or operational mishaps. However, such travel could also be to scenically rewarding locations of unparalleled beauty worldwide that are typically not seen by the touring public.
