The creative director is responsible for owning, leading and directing Nordstrom's online marketing identity by managing our e-mail and digital advertising programs to deliver world class creative communications and drive customer engagement.
Responsibilities: * Lead the creative vision and design aesthetic of our online marketing brand identity to provide innovative, compelling communications that drive measurable results * Communicate and pitch clear ideas and creative concepts to senior leadership team and stakeholders * Partner closely with the VP of Global Marketing in the development and execution of the Company's branding and marketing campaigns, ensuring the profitability and creative quality of projects and operational readiness of the creative team * Direct optimization of all e-mail marketing campaigns to drive revenue (new customers, retention, loyalty, triggered messages, etc.) * Drive every feature of campaign creations from concept to on-time and on-budget completion * Manage budget of external resources, including freelancers, contractors, third party creative agencies and vendors * Build a culture of calculated risk-taking, which accepts and learns from both wins and losses * Foster a culture with a sense of urgency that pushes innovation and accelerates expected outcomes * Strive for innovation by actively seeking out new design trends, experiences and technology * Mentor, lead and inspire creative vision for designers, artists and writers * Commit to the professional development of the creative team * Continually evaluate and monitor the Company's branding and site experience and its place in the competitive marketplace in order to guide its evolution * Partner with management and others to anticipate future business changes and challenges and proactively develop and implement new or revised plans Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Fine or Applied Arts or equivalent experience * 8 years director-level creative role in design, editorial, photography, film or related creative field * 8 years leadership experience working with large-scale websites, marketing and/or advertising agencies * 8 years experience in online marketing, e-commerce, and/or website design, ideally fashion * Ability to provide a broad portfolio of client work * Experience in developing consumer marketing communications strategies and presenting recommendations and results to senior management * Deep understanding of target customer needs and how to craft advertising and marketing into visual and written language catering to their needs * Ability to inspire others and demonstrated experience managing and leading large teams * Proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion, applying best practices with the ability to prioritize and creatively problem-solve * Ability to design under constraints and stay current with changing technology * Ability to think strategically and stay on top of execution * Understanding of fashion editorial, photography, design and video/film * Thorough understanding of interactive communication, processes and user interface design for online products * Ability to supervise, train and mentor employees, including organizing, prioritizing and managing timelines * Proven track record of hiring and developing a team * Demonstrate relentlessly high standards, fostering passion, integrity and energy * Ability to analyze and apply data for metrics-driven results * Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with a high degree of collaboration and influence Since 1901, Nordstrom has offered a wide variety of quality apparel, shoes and accessories for men, women and children at our stores across the country.
