Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (Sports Management/Finance/Admin)

As the Manager, Environmental Health & Safety, you will develop, direct and lead the implementation of an enterprise wide prevention-focused environmental health and safety (EHS) program that will maintain and promote a safe and effective work environment while ensuring that our company is in compliance with all federal, state and local EHS laws and regulations. This role oversees the strategy, implementation and communication of all EHS programming. The ideal candidate is an environmental health and safety subject matter expert that can clearly articulate, develop and implement EHS programs and action plans.

Key Deliverables, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Establish, develop and direct our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and policies with a primary focus of maintaining and improving the health and safety of all employees, contractors, visitors and guests.
  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining compliance with all current and future federal, state and local EHS laws and regulations, including OSHA.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing all current EHS programming including, but not limited to: Blood- Borne Pathogens/Sharps, HazMat, Lockout-Tagout, Forklift/PIT, Voluntary Respirator Program and OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Establish and develop EHS program targets including an EHS metric driven dashboard for all relevant EHS program work.
  • Lead an enterprise wide program to identify and evaluate EHS hazards (risks) and implement effective controls (corrective solutions).
  • Responsible for providing budgeting leadership and guidance with an emphasis on practical business responsibility.
  • Direct oversight and accountability of our Safety Committee including our evacuation and emergency preparedness program.
  • Develop, manage and coordinate training programs designed to foster EHS development and encourage a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure training of appropriate personnel in accident/illness emergency response including, but not limited to, CPR, First Aid, AED and Blood borne Pathogen).
  • Participate in formal EHS reviews of existing equipment modifications and new equipment purchases including existing and proposed changes in site processes.
  • Works closely with HR managing third party administration contracts/relationships, ergonomic programming, and assisting with workers compensation and return to work programming including claim management related issues as appropriate.
  • Work cross divisionally with AHQ, Retail (including new store development and real estate construction) and DC Management.
  • Serve as EHS primary point of contact for all insurance related matters including fire and property risk programs.
  • Investigate all OSHA related complaints and issues as well as conduct all OSHA required investigations.
  • Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans as appropriate.
  • Build organizational capacity to develop, support and sustain enterprise wide EHS programming.

    Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of progressive work experience in the EHS discipline
  • EHS management experience in retail, food & beverage or other related industry, preferred
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in occupational safety and health, industrial safety, science, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage enterprise level program change successfully
  • Knowledge of EHS principles as well as OSHA, FDA, EPA and other state and federal requirements
  • Independent, self-directed and results oriented individual
  • Ability to direct, train and mentor associates
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication as well as the ability to develop rapport and credibility at all levels
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSM) or related certification a plus
  • Experience with Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) compliance and ergonomic programming, preferred
  • May require minimal travel
