Our Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for a Director.

The Director of the Big W Club will oversee and manage alumni relations efforts (former student athletes) for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) at the University of Washington.

The role of the Director is to create opportunities for former student athletes to maintain ongoing relationships with the University. The position is required to not only foster ongoing relationships with former athletes, but also encourage financial contributions in support of the Department.

Annual Fund & Communications:
The Director will manage and maintain the former athlete alumni databases (7,000 + names). Duties of this position also include working with upper campus's Central Advancement team to facilitate annual fund solicitation mailings and communication pieces. The Director will also work with ICA Staff to recommend Big W Club personal interest stories to highlight in the Department's monthly publication, The Dawgs Digest.
This position will also be responsible for maintaining the content of the Big W Club website on behalf of the Department.

Big W Club Events:
The Director of the Big W Club will be responsible for planning and executing a number of annual events. These events include, but are limited to the following:
. Student Athlete Welcome and Awards Presentation Banquet
. Hall of Fame Banquet (Bi-Annual)
. Spring Football Reunion
. Big W Tent at the Zone
. Women of Washington Wine Tasting Event
. Sarkisian Showcase Golf Event
. Dinner with a Dawg
. Sport Reunions

Student Athlete Development & Career Development:
The Director will work with WASAAC (UW Student Athlete Advisor Committee) to network with current student athletes and promote the Big W Club and its mission. This position will meet with graduating student athletes each spring to assist them with job contacts, networking opportunities or career direction. An important element of this position is to established relationships with current student athletes in order to serve as a role model and convey to them the strengths of Husky tradition.

Letter Award Program & Priority Point Distribution:
This position will work closely with compliance staff to verify eligibility of student athletes for annual participation awards. This includes the ordering and distribution of student athlete letter jackets and Big W Club blankets. The Director of the Big W Club will also work with the Tyee Club office to award 100 Big W Club priority points to student athletes who lettered at the University.

Husky Legends Program:
The Director is responsible for identifying former student athletes from Football, as well as Men's & Women's Basketball to be honored at a home game. The Director will handle all game day logistics and script development for those in game presentations.

Coordinate the Hall of Fame Selection and Induction Process:
The Director of the Big W works with a larger committee to solicit and manage the Husky Hall of Fame nomination process. Once selections have been made, the Director will handle all of logistics involving inductees, families and guest associated with the event. This position will work closely with ICA's Special Events Director and Stewardship Manager on all aspects of planning this bi-annual marquee event.

The Director may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required. Applicants must have at least three years of experience in alumni relations, fund development, event planning and/or firsthand experience within an intercollegiate athletics department. The position requires advanced verbal, written, and organizational skills.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
Knowledge of University of Washington Athletics and Puget Sound region preferred former University of Washington student athlete, as well as an advanced degree.

Condition of Employment:

A satisfactory outcome from criminal background verification is required prior to hire.
