AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS) is a world-class nuclear engineering services and operations contractor which was established to serve the Federal Government, specifically the Department of Energy (DOE) and its contractors, by combining the capabilities, technologies, and resources from multiple AREVA companies. AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS) Packaging Projects:
AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS) Packaging Projects is a business line and service function within the AFS Operations Department. Packaging Projects provides a key AREVA technology to our government customers - licensed radioactive material packagings. Clients typically include the DOE and their contractors, and internal/affiliate customers within AREVA (e.g., MOX Project, Hanford Projects, Transnuclear). Packaging Projects activities include projects across multiple DOE programs (e.g., EM, NE, RW, NNSA). Project values typically range from $10K to $10M, and can include multiple contract types (e.g., fixed-price, T&M, cost-plus). Organization consists of approximately 25 individuals in Federal Way,WA, all dedicated to the design, analysis, testing, licensing, and fabrication of radioactive material packaging and related mechanical hardware under a NRC-approved 10 CFR 71 Subpart H QA Program. Job Description:
AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Senior Project er broad supervision, this position is responsible for securing and managing resources for moderately complex single product line government projects from proposal development and award through contract closeout.
Responsibilities and duties include: * Planning, scheduling and control of project activities to achieve project objectives. * Provides project leadership for radioactive material packaging and related mechanical hardware projects. * Prepares project plans/schedules/materials to achieve project quality, reliability, cost and timing objectives. * Utilizes approved earned-value project management methods and processes to execute low risk projects of existing technology and methods to meet client needs and expectations. * Provides primary interface between project team, contracts/procurement, project controls, management and client. * Develops assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project. * Coordinates multiple project activities including organizing and directing personnel, materials and equipment; * utilizes team building skills to ensure satisfactory project performance. * Defines and forecasts needed skills to meet project objectives. * Manages cash flow and ensures attainment of expected cash position. * Provides senior-level counsel and project management oversight support to the Director of Packaging Projects. All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. * BS Degree in Business, Engineering or similar field, or H.S. Diploma or equivalent and related experience in lieu of degree, plus 12-15 years of project work experience. * Demonstrated success as a Project Manager with DOE and Nuclear Projects. * Excellent knowledge of major PM plan development, implementation and administration. * Good knowledge of nuclear safety issues and requirements. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work and team effectively with all levels of staff & management. * Excellent working knowledge of PC-based applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). * Excellent report development and presentation skills. * Demonstrated Business Development and proposal writing skills. * Proven ability to effectively team with or manage other Project Managers and Project Engineers. The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. * Experience in Earned-Value project management strongly desired; Project Management Institute (PMI) or similar certification. * Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Professional Engineering license. * Ability to directly prepare design media and calculations (structural, thermal, nuclear), safety analysis reports for packaging, and hands-on experience with package testing. * Oversight of fabrication shop operations is strongly desired. * Strongly desired: demonstrated experience in either commercial or government radioactive material transportation and/or packaging industry, including familiarity with NRC and DOT regulations for packaging and shipping radioactive materials. Routine travel required. Average one trip per month to visit customer(s) and sub-contractors. Occasional international travel (average once per year).
